Well, just when I thought I might be able to pound out some words and get back on track, reality set in. I start my new job today and although I have done it before, it's a lot more intensive then serving. I have a schedule of more than 20 hours a week and I will be busy most night, when my juices seem to flow the best. So, although I am not giving up on NaNo for another year, it might be a difficult time for me to reach my end goal.
Here's to my weekends (Not actual weekends, because I'm in the restaurant industry, so my weekend is like Monday/Tuesday) for getting some writing done! I may be able to write some in the morning, but if you've ever worked an evening job, you know the anticipation to start is sometimes too much and being an active participant in life is a struggle.
I hope you all do well with your writing though and if anyone wants to ghost write my novel, I probably won't say no. Haha, just kidding. That's not the point of NaNo. The point is to suffer and cry in a corner because my life takes over any time I have for writing. *crying face emoji*
Peace and Love,
Well, today was an interesting day. I have been out with a cold for the last few days and NaNoWriMo had suffered. Alas, I felt good enough today to write but I thought I would maybe get out 600 maybe 700 words out before having to call it nap time. I crushed that goal by writing a total of ... 5000 words! I feel like I could take on the world right now, right after I get rid of this damn cough.
I've been seeing posts about other people's time and they are KILLING it! I am so excited for them. This year will be a good one, I can sense it.
As I write this novel, I am trying to shut off the inner editor. Although I can never stop using spell checker (sorry, fam!) I have just mostly been writing whatever comes to my mind. It may be a jumbled mess by the end of it all, but you know what, screw it. I find myself writing for me, which may include quite a few swear words. Although my books are mostly marketed to YA, I think this may break out of that mould. With the way things are going, I can tell this novel is also going to be quite violent.
Oh well,I guess we all have to go somewhere.
How's everyone else doing? Let me know in the comments below! I'd love to hear what you've been up to these past several days of NaNo!
Frick. I thought it would be a good day, but alas the day has ended and I have written ... 23 words! *claps slowly* This is not my day, I am distracted by everything, I've even went on google to look up cat memes. I guess today is not my day to write. I've decided to put away the laptop and just deal with the fact I cannot write today. I know the problem, I took a nap and now I'm more tired then I was when I started this whole thing. I knew it would screw with me, but alas ... I did it anyways. Now, as I stare at this blank screen, I realize the terrible mistakes I have made. *dramatic sigh*
Well, tomorrow is a new day. I will NOT take that damn nap, no matter how cute and cuddly my cat looks lying on the bed on his back. I will resist the temptations of the Devil! I will see you all tomorrow, when hopefully I can add two zero's to the end of that number.
How did you guys do today? I hope better than myself.
Welcome to NaNoWriMo2017! Today started off quite stressful. Work was stressful, so I took a nap. I slept in, so I was groggy. The coffee wasn't hot enough so I sat there trying to make it hotter. #firstworldproblems
Then I started writing and after a stressful start, I got 2000 words done, which seems to be a good start. I was overly excited about the fact I wrote that much, until I realized it's only 400 words more than I need a day, which is actually sad. I wanted to write more, but other priorities took over and so for today, I had to log out with that word count.
I'm hoping tomorrow is a better day, I would like to be at 5000/6000 words by the end of tomorrow, which I think is quite attainable. The story is coming out without much effort, the only part I'm having difficulty with is remember that NaNo is not about editing, it is about writing. The little nerve in my eye doesn't understand that though and so, for the duration of the writing today, it twitched. I need to realize what NaNo is all about before I lose my mind!
Can I last another month? I guess we'll have to see. My life might consume most of my writing time. I am currently transitioning from serving to management and I also am in a course for web design, so this might be an interesting couple of week! Wish me luck!
How did you do on your first day? Think you'll make it to the end? Let me know in the comments!
Thunder crackled throughout the forest, causing lightning to strike a particular spot within the middle of the trees. As the rain started falling, the thunder got worst, shaking the ground with every pulse. Another lightning strike in the same spot, the trees lit up with flames of red and oranges, burning to the ground and leaving nothing but smoldering embers.
A few moments passed when a dark cloud covered the now destroyed part of the forest, glimmering as it sparked small lightning. The ground shook one final time before a portal opened up, dropping out a woman dressed in a beautiful floor-length red dress. Black wings ripped out the back, spreading the size of a small school bus, leaving dead skin and blood littering the ground.
The woman looked around, turning her head to the left and then the right. Walking slowly towards the trees, she gasped, a malicious smile coming onto her face, “Did I finally make it? Have I finally been let free from the damn prison?” Looking back around, the woman looked down at herself, “This body. It’s perfect” Letting out an evil cackle, she pressed her hands over each part of her skin, “This is the perfect vessel, I must thank Elise as soon as I see her, she chose the perfect body.”
Looking back where the portal had dropped her down, she waved her hand, another portal opening up. “Come out of hiding, my beautiful creatures, we can now take what it rightfully ours. Hurry, there is no time to lose. I know you are hungry, but remember to leave a few humans left, or we will not have a breeding colony! Now go!”
Rushing out from the portal came demons, vampires, banshees and other hellish creatures. The wails of the banshees drowned out the other creatures running out from the portal. The woman smiled and watched as each one of her creatures leapt towards the city. Another evil cackle left her lips as she licked them, her face contorted into an evil smile.
